The Department of the Treasury is close to meeting the target of the $ 600 economic stimulus payments to citizens, agency leaders announced via a virtual conference.
The Secretary of the Treasury, Francisco Parés Alicea, reported that to date, $ 1,445,532,770 has been disbursed to 1,752,427 families.
The undersecretary of the agency, Àngel Pantoja Rodríguez, pointed out that they are already reaching the aforementioned figure and assured that they understood that “the expectations we had for this second round of payment have been met”.
Parés Alicea also indicated that 135,708 checks had been issued, the vast majority of them already sent and others in process to leave this week.
People who have not received payment for various reasons could have a second chance to claim in the process of filing the payroll for the year 2020.
“We have met and we are already in this final stage and these two days for the Department of Finance will be very important,” said Parés.
He added that while this second federal incentive has been distributed as diligently as possible, at this final stage there is still an inventory of 30,525 unfinished deposits because they were rejected by the banks.
The agency set up until this next Friday to update the account and be able to receive payment.
