Former candidate for the Interior for the Victory Citizen Movement (MVC), Alexandra Lugaro, announced this afternoon that she is officially retiring from the country’s electoral policy after seven years, two campaigns and the formation of the party for which she ran in the last election.
“It’s never easy to let go of what we’re passionate about, what we love, what we’ve helped build or what we’ve seen grow. However, sometimes in life we need to reinvent ourselves, look for new routes and move on. the baton for a new stretch, ”Lugaro wrote on social media.
That decision, the former candidate said, is one she made with her chest flooded with a mixture of sadness, gratitude and hope.
Lugaro abounded in what was never his intention to be political or aspire to a candidacy, but he did so out of dissatisfaction with the reality of the island. This was what prompted her in 2015 to run as an independent candidate for the Interior.
“We achieved the unimaginable for many, becoming without machinery or resources the third largest political force in the modern history of the country. Without a doubt … we break the dam!”, Added Lugaro who at this time goes get the third highest number of votes.
He made the announcement in an open letter to the country published on networks where he described as a feat the formation of the Victory Citizen Movement and the change it achieved in the last elections, getting a position in the legislature.
“Today, I have to make a big deal so that the next section is run by a new generation, one that is not willing to conform, which already recognizes that no structure is indestructible and was lucky enough to prove the power that we have when we unite, ”he continued.
Finally, he thanked his family for the support and assured that his “struggle to change what we live in” would not cease.
“My dissatisfaction with our reality, the desire to aspire to transform my environment and the love I feel for our country; they would never allow me to do so. On the contrary, this only implies that I am willing to contribute to the change from other spaces, that I will seek to open new paths and that I will continue to fight from another trench to leave a better country of which we were bequeathed “, he added.
