IMSS is the best medical school, says Zoé Robledo in graduate medical residency

during the closing of the Academic Cycle 2020-2021 of Medical Specialization Courses, the director general of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), Zoe Robledo, assured that during the pandemic by Covid-19 his dependence became “the best medical school“To have format at the 60 percent of specialists in Mexico.

The official congratulated 4,158 doctors who completed their residency at the IMSS and, in the event which lasted about an hour and a half, he stressed that the apprentices carried out their activities “in terracería and never in the comfort of the pavement.”

In recognition of the graduate medical staff, eight doctors received a diploma and there was even a call for them to remain in the IMSS to continue their training and start their formal working life.

He added that to strengthen the training of resident doctors and give them opportunities to access the IMSS, they worked with the National Union of Social Security Workers (SNTSS) for new hires and to cover the deficit of specialists that existed in 2020.

The director of the health institute indicated that last year, prior to the Covid-19 pandemic, 5,229 doctors and 16,470 nurses were hired, which represented the largest number of income in the IMSS in the last six years.

During the closing event of the Medical Specialization Courses also participated the director general of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), Arturo Reyes Sandoval, and virtually the rector of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), Enrique Graue Wiechers.

In a video message, the rector of UNAM recognized the IMSS for being the “most important institution in Mexico” in the training of doctors

He also applauded the work that health personnel have done during the Covid-19 pandemic and assured that the country will be in permanent debt for its work, which is why the Senate of the Republic recognized these professionals with the Belisario Domínguez medal.

Meanwhile, Arturo Reyes, director general of the IPN, stressed that the medical profession needs to be constantly updated and an example of this is the emergence of the Covid-19.

“Higher level educational institutions are called to work in coordination with health sector organizations such as the IMSS,” concluded the director of the Polytechnic.
