Police – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Two people were found dead in an Old East Dallas home Thursday afternoon, hours after two officers were injured when they were shot while answering a call at the home, Chief Eddie Garcia said.

Officers had responded shortly after 11 a.m. to block 5300 of Bonita Avenue, near North Henderson Avenue, where the suspect had threatened to injure his wife, according to police.

Garcia said officers were attended to immediately by gunfire and two were beaten.

The two officers had lower leg injuries and were taken to Baylor University Medical Center in stable condition, according to Dallas Police Association President Mike Mata.

He thanked Dallas Fire-Rescue for providing coverage to police to keep injured officers away from the scene.

Around 1:37 p.m., SWAT officers burst into the house and found a dead man and woman inside, police said.

“Praying for the dead victim and her family,” Garcia said in a tweet.

Additional details were not immediately available.
