Alabama men’s basketball coach Nate Oats extends to 2026-27 season

Alabama men’s basketball coach Nate Oats has agreed to a contract extension until the end of the 2026-27 season, the school announced Thursday.

Oats also received a salary increase to $ 3,225 million annually.

“We feel we have a big positive momentum with our team and the program is heading in the right direction,” Oats said. “Our administration makes an important statement with this extension, as we are all working on creating a long-term success program. I know the winning history we have had with Alabama basketball, and I think we can add- ho and get great results stuff here.

“… This is really a reflection of the excellent work that our players, coaches and basketball staff have done over the last two years. Now we need to focus on finishing this season in the right way and giving our team the best the chance to succeed along the stretch “.

Oats has Alabama at the top of the SEC standings with a 17-5 overall and a 12-1 conference call in Saturday’s game against Vanderbilt. The Crimson Tide was ranked No. 8 in this week’s AP poll and is currently projected as a 2nd seed in the NCAA tournament.

The Tide won a 10-win streak earlier this season.

Athletic director Greg Byrne hired Oats to replace Avery Johnson after the 2018-19 season. Oats spent the previous four years in Buffalo, leading the Bulls to three NCAA tournaments and two first-round wins.

“We had high expectations when we hired Coach Oats,” Byrne said. “It has exceeded those expectations and we want to make sure it is offset by the top half of the SEC. We have established purchasing measures that demonstrate the long-term commitment between the two parties.

“Coach Oats and his staff have created a comprehensive program that has maximized the experience of our student-athletes, significantly increased interest in Alabama basketball with future recruits, and presented a product that has excited our fan base “.

Alabama went 16-15 in Oats ’first season at the helm.
