America, Blue Cross and Stripes will play first visit while Leon starts from home in the ‘Concachampions’
The CONCACAF presented the calendar of the round of 16 of the Champions League and emphasizes that America, Blue Cross and Stripes will play the first leg as visitors while Leon will be the only representative of the MX League to play at home the first game of the playoffs.
The Football Confederation of the Association of North, Central America and the Caribbean announced that the first matches for the round of 16 will be played on Tuesday, April 6, highlighting the commitment between Arcahaie FC and the Blue Cross, a match that will be played to Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
On Wednesday, April 7, Leon will host the Canadian First Division champions who will be out between Forge FC and Toronto FC. That same day, the American Eagles will visit the Andean Ciburcio Carias track in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to face CD Olimpia. On April 8, Javier Aguirre will make his debut in the ‘Concachampions’ in front of Rayados visiting the Olympic Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic to face Club Atlético Pantoja.
The return of the Blue Cross vs Arcahaie FC is scheduled for April 13 while America and Leon will play their second round of 16 fixture on April 14. For its part, Monterrey will receive a visit from Atlético Pantoja on April 15.
The CONCACAF Champions League final is scheduled to be played in a single match in October and MX League clubs are favorites to take the title due to the hegemony of Aztec football in the main competition of clubs of the confederation.
