The cause of Cloris Leachman’s death was a stroke

A few weeks after Cloris Leachman’s death, his cause of death has been announced.

According to Entertainment Tonight, the 94-year-old actress died of a stroke. COVID-19 was also classified as a significant condition that contributed to his death, but was not the underlying cause.

A San Diego coroner did not immediately return Page Six’s request for comment.

The star of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” was cremated on February 7 and her remains are preserved at the residence of her daughter Dinah Englund in Encinitas, California.

The beloved Oscar winner died on January 27, as confirmed by her longtime manager Juliet Green on Page Six at the time.

“It has been my privilege to work with Cloris Leachman, one of the most fearsome actresses of our time,” Green told Page Six in a statement. “There was no one like Cloris. With a single glance, I had the ability to break your heart or make you laugh until tears ran down your face. You never knew what Cloris would say or do and this unpredictable quality was part of his unprecedented magic.

Green added that she “fiercely loved her children and grandchildren” and was a “lifelong vegetarian” and “passionate advocate for animal rights.”

Leachman died at his home, with Englund by his side.
