Packers release Christian Kirksey, ex of Browns LB

The Green Bay Packers have released former Browns director Christian Kirksey after just one season.

The Packers broke ties with Kirksey in a move to see some pay. Green Bay have also eliminated right-back Rick Wagner after just one season.

Kirksey was the Browns captain and the team’s emotional leader for most of his tenure in Cleveland, which lasted from 2014 to 2019. Injuries upset “Kirko” in Cleveland and unfortunately he moved on. and Green Bay.

From Packers Wire,

Signed to provide a veteran defender for former defensive coordinator Mike Pettine, Kirksey fought early, missed five games due to a chest injury and was eventually replaced as the team’s No. 1 defender. He intercepted two passes and produced two sacks, but was ranked as one of the NFL’s worst home defenders in Pro Football Focus during the 2020 season.

The Browns need a little help from the defender, but Kirksey’s inability to stay healthy or act consistently would seem to rule him out to return to Cleveland.
