A 2-year-old boy was killed in the face by a violent vehicle driver on a Manhattan subway train, just the latest in a recent surge in city traffic, police sources said Sunday and of law enforcement.

The boy was sitting on his mother’s lap on a C train heading north on Douglas Boulevard and West 116th Street in Manhattan shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday, when a beggar walked between the doors of the train car. and began asking for money from passengers, police and sources reported.

“Can you tell please 6 meters?” the boy’s mother asked the manipulator, sources told The Post.

The suspect proceeded to step on the mother’s left foot, sources said.

When his mother asked him, “Why did you step on me?” the suspect began punching and hitting the 2-year-old, sources said.

A witness told police he had to remove the suspect from the mother and child, who suffered minor visible injuries to his face and ear, sources said.

The assailant, described as 40, fled the train when he arrived at the station, police said.

The injured child was taken to Mount Sinai-Saint Luke Hospital by ambulance for treatment, police sources said. He has since been released, sources said.

The suspect was described as a heavy woman with a tattoo on her neck and a trendy cut that was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, washed jeans, boots and a white mask, sources said.
