Óscar Valdez was happy and satisfied to be able to prove to those who doubted him, including Julio César Chávez, that they were wrong.
“No one can say what you can and can’t do and we showed them they were wrong,” the Sonoran man said at the end of the fight holding the CMB green belt.
Later, at the press conference, Valdez Fierro explained how he used comments in his favor that did not give him a chance, including that of his idol.
A lot of people doubted me, I listened to a lot of boxing experts, analysts, I heard my idol, Julio César Chávez, say that the ‘Alacrán’ Berchelt was going to knock me out and that could demotivate me, but I did serve as inspiration, I said ‘Okay, I’ll prove them wrong’ and I’m very happy I got it, ”he said.

When questioned about his next rival, the new world champion took the name Shakur Stevenson.
