Training begins hours earlier to open Buc-ee’s first travel center in Florida

ST. AGOSTÍ, Fla. – It is known for promoting the largest convenience store in the world. Chaing National Travel Center, Buc-ee’s, opens its first location in Florida today.

The new location on World Commerce Parkway in Saint Augustine is 52,600 square feet and offers 104 fuel positions.

The chain carries a cult following. Dozens of people were in line outside the store before 5:15 a.m. Monday.

Shops are usually divided into the gifts side, which includes items such as clothing, home decor, sporting goods and more, and food service and convenience store.

Doors open at 6 p.m.

Many people living in the area were worried about how the gas station would affect property values. More than 2,000 people signed a petition to oppose development in 2019, which mentioned traffic problems and a worse quality of life.
