INDIANAPOLIS – Obviously no quarterback Carson Wentz will get the No. 11 jersey with his new team, the Indianapolis Colts.
Michael Pittman Jr., a second-year receiver for Colts, who currently wears the No. 11, says he has spoken to Wentz about the number and the answer is no on a possible switch.
“I’m number 11,” Pittman Jr. said. at TMZ Sports. “… I don’t think any agreement will be made.”
It’s not uncommon for new team players to try to buy their favorite jersey number for a lot of money from one of their teammates.
The Colts agreed to acquire Wentz to be their new Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback for a 2021 second-round pick and 2022 second-round pick that could turn into a first-round pick on Feb. 18.
Wentz wore the number 11 while at North Dakota State University and during his first five years with the Eagles.
“Yes, so I talked to him [Carson] and he just saw how closed it was at number 11, and I told him it was closed – and he said to me, “It’s great, brother, because I’ll probably change anyway,” Pittman Jr. told TMZ Sports “… He asked me very respectfully, and I only appreciated him for that. I think he’s a great guy, because there are a lot of guys with his condition, who would come in and ask for similar things. “
Pittman Jr. was number 86 at USC University, but changed to No. 11 after being drafted by the Colts.
