A 28-year-old man identified as Christopher Pekny of New York, died near noon yesterday, Sunday, after a device that would be used to reveal the gender of his baby exploded causing fatal injuries.
According to the police report, they responded to a call of an explosion in a residence in the village of Liberty when they encountered the tragic scene.
The investigation shows that Pekny was building the device that would be used at a party to reveal the gender of the baby.
The blast not only claimed the young man’s life but also caused serious injuries to his brother, Michael Pekny, 27.
The incident is still under investigation by the New York State Police Explosives Unit.
