USPS introduces new sleek mail trucks

Truck, yes!

The U.S. Postal Service on Tuesday unveiled a modern replacement for the iconic Grumman LLV mail truck that has been in use since the late 1980s.

The new design consists of a front hood with a lot of residue that looks like the front beak of a duck in front of an extremely high windshield.

Oshkosh Defense has been hired to build between 50,000 and 165,000 of the new trucks over the next 10 years, replacing vehicles that have been in service for three decades, the USPS said in a statement.

Oshkosh’s design is not completely finished, USPS said. The initial truck order will cost $ 482 million and the first vehicles are expected to hit the roads by 2023.

The truck renovation is part of the Postal Service’s “plan” to become “the preferred delivery service provider for the American public.”
