Brazilian twins change sex at the same time – People – Culture

Mayla and Sofia became the first twins in the world to undergo a sex change operation, According to the news agency ‘AFP’.

At the age of 19, they decided to undergo a procedure and went to the Transgender medical center in the city of Blumenau because the Dr. José Carlos Martins operated on them.

In statements to the aforementioned medium, Dr. Martins mentioned that: “this is the only case reported in the world,” referring to the two trans women, who are very active on social media.

For this operation, which lasted 5 hours, the twins received the support of their entire family and even their grandfather was the one who paid for the procedure.

The twins were born in the Brazilian municipality of Tapira, in the state of Minas Gerais.

currently Sofia is studying civil engineering in the city of Sao Paulo, Brazil, while Mayla is a medical student in Argentina.
