Today marks the launch of an adaptation of the board game Stardew Valley, the fan-favorite farming simulator that has taken the indie world by storm in recent years.
A revealing trailer (above) gives us our first taste of the look of the game, while an official website offers a little more detail. The game is a cooperative experience that includes season cards, villager cards, tools, objects, crops, minerals and more, all based on the video game, and has been developed by Stardew Valley creator Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone and Cole Medeiros , who has previously worked on the board games Web of Spies and GUBS (thanks, Eurogamer).
Stardew Valley: The board game is a cooperative game where players work together to restore the valley. They achieve this by cultivating crops, raising animals, expanding their farm and gathering resources from all over the valley.
By befriending local villagers, players gain hearts that allow them to reveal hidden goals. Only by working together will they prevent Joja Corporation from moving and ruining everything.
Choose your profession and choose your initial tool; Stardew Valley needs you!
If you’re interested in picking it up, you can buy it as we’re talking here for $ 55. It is currently only shipped to the United States, although efforts are being made to make it available elsewhere as well.
The game’s store page notes that “it’s not a fast, casual game,” which warns that those looking for a short game time may not get the most out of it. “As long as it is is easy to play once the rules are known, “the listing says,” it wants to be a challenge. “
