A new business is expected to appear in Lehigh Valley with more than 150 new jobs Lehigh Valley regional news

BETHLEHEM TWP., Pa. – There are over 150 new jobs in the Lehigh Valley with the expansion of Indiana-based Weaver Popcorn in the municipality of Bethlehem, Northampton County. It will be right next to Route 22 on Brodhead Road.

It is the first expansion of the east coast.

“Weaver Popcorn was founded in 1928 by Rev. Ira Weaver. She shelled her own popcorn and sold them to the local community,” said COO Billy Smith.

The family business is one of the largest manufacturers of popcorn in the United States, supplying popcorn to different brands.

Growing demand during the pandemic has forced the need for the new 40,000-square-foot facility, which is still in the early stages of construction and is expected to be completed by the summer.

“During this pandemic we’ve had significant upward growth. And as you know, Justin, people like to sit on the couch and eat popcorn and watch a movie when they’re not able to go out. said Smith.

The company will create new jobs at a time when many are out of work.

“So between 125 and 175 once the third phase is over. That way, we can bring about 175 jobs to the area,” Smith said.

The company does a job fair with CareerLink, but you can also apply online.

“It’s www.workatweaver.com and that will take you directly to our professional page,” Smith said.
