Tiger Woods doesn’t remember being in a car accident in California: Sheriff

Tiger Woods does not recall the accident that left him broken in his right leg, and seemed unaware of the serious injury he had when the first deputy arrived on the scene, according to reports.

“At the hospital, investigators asked him about this and he had no memory of the accident,” Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva told CNN, according to the London Times.

Sheriff’s deputy delegate Carlos Gonzalez, who first arrived at the scene, told NBC’s “Today” Wednesday that the golf legend was quiet, but seemed unaware of the harm he suffered.

“I do not think he was aware of the seriousness of the situation at that time. It could be a mixture of adrenaline, it could have been a shock, ”said González.

“Again it was very fast, the moment I arrived from the moment he overturned, so I don’t know if he had time to fully assess his injuries,” added Gonzalez, who arrived six minutes later. to Make a 911 Call |

The deputy said he saw no signs of deterioration at the site.

“At the scene, we look for evidence of intoxication, such as whether there is an odor from an alcoholic beverage or whether there is an open container or prescription drugs,” he said.

“At this time we saw no evidence of deterioration or anything beyond in terms of medical toxicology, at this time I would not know,” González added.

He said the 45-year-old golf icon kept quiet while asking him evaluation questions before determining he should call firefighters to help him get him out.

“I’ve seen collisions that didn’t seem so serious where the occupants were injured much more severely,” he said. “I think this is just a testament to the fact that he was wearing a seat belt, the airbags worked just as modern vehicles are much safer than they used to be.”

Gonzalez was carrying his body camera while interacting with Woods and the images should be available in the near future, according to USA Today.

Woods faces a long road to recovery that includes major physical therapy and additional operations on his broken leg, medical experts told The Post.

Villanueva reiterated on Wednesday that there were no indications of criminal offenses, as he announced that no charges are being considered in the accident.

Asked about the possibility of a reckless driving charge, Villanueva said there was no evidence that the Woods crash met the criteria.

“A reckless driving load has a lot of elements,” he said. “It simply came to our notice then.
