COVID-19 vaccines reach Publix in Miami-Dade and Broward

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Publix pharmacies in Miami-Dade and Broward counties will finally begin administering COVID-19 vaccines next week, the grocery chain announced Thursday.

Publix says vaccines will be available starting Monday at Florida’s 730 pharmacies, including 136 in Broward and Miami-Dade.

Appointments are required and residents 65 and older can start requesting them Friday at 7 a.m. at publix.com/covidvaccine.

“The online booking system will normally open every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning,” the channel said. “Appointments may not be available in all counties during all scheduling opportunities.”

Some Publix locations in Monroe County and Palm Beach County had already offered shots, but Miami-Dade and Broward had been left out of the initial release.

Vaccines are provided at no cost, but clients with health insurance must bring their insurance card to the scheduled appointment. Medicare members must carry their Part B red, white, and blue Medicare card. Customers without health insurance will be required to provide their driver’s license or Social Security number.

Some other pharmacies in the state also offer vaccines as the supply of shots increases.
