As part of its ongoing process to reveal more Halo Infinite throughout 2021, 343 Industries has today released a substantial new update of the upcoming shooter that gives us a better idea of what the studio intends to do with the project. In this latest information, several developers of the company have talked specifically about the game campaign and what it will have in store.
Detailed on the Halo website, this new blog focused primarily on explaining the world of Halo Infinite that players will experience on their part for a player. For those who don’t know, the game takes place at Zeta Halo this time. When it came to what 343 wanted to do with the design of this location, it was said that its two main goals were “simplicity” and “legacy”. “For‘ Legacy ’we want players to feel like they’re living a game they remember fondly (Halo: Combat Evolved), but with modernized graphics, of course, ”explained Justin Dinges, head of art at 343.“ As for ‘Simplicity,’ we wanted to make sure we moved away from overly noisy designs and details, which is something important for the team Halo 5. With Halo Infinite, we wanted to recover this new adventure at its roots and create a visually pleasing experience that is not clarified with unnecessary complexity where readability and a clear artistic composition prevail ”.
Speaking more about the design of Zeta Halo, Dinges went on to say that the team was very inspired by their own environment in Washington. As such, Halo Infinite it has several mountains, rivers and forests to explore.
This goal of making the world feel more like the Halo games of yesteryear also extends to enemy designs. Once again, Dinges said 343 tried to simplify the designs of longtime enemies like Jackals and Grunts to bring them closer to nature “from its appearance in Halo 3 and previous titles “.
And while this may seem like 343 it purely attempts to recreate the original games in the series Halo Infinite, also seeks to bring new ideas. One of them is with Grappleshot, which was revealed at last year’s game show. When trying to create these environments, 343 says he must not only decide how to build them from an aesthetic point of view, but also in terms of how players will go through them. “The good news is that the game is not only a lot more fun thanks to that, but we can also expect players to come up with really awesome places and views that will show even more the beauty of the world we’ve created.” Dinges said about this new tool. “For me, Grappleshot is an exciting example of a new game feature that provides great victories for both gamers and developers.”
Overall, it seems Halo Infinite it tries to strike a great balance between new and old formats. It remains to be seen if it is a success, but given how the first entries in this franchise are still adored to this day, it seems that 343 Industries has a good sense of what fans want.
In case you haven’t counted the days before, Halo Infinite will be released later this year on an undetermined date in the fall. The game will arrive on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC whenever it arrives.
