A Boeing 777 cargo plane operated by Rossiya Airlines landed as an emergency on Friday at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo airport after discovering a problem with the plane’s engine control sensor, according to Reuters.
Rossiya Airlines Flight 4520 was traveling from Hong Kong to Madrid in the early hours of Friday when the crew called for ground in Moscow, the media reported.
The plane, the New York Times reported, was a cargo flight and carried 25 people and 36 metric tons of cargo.
“The landing took place normally,” Rossiya said in a statement to Reuters. The airlines also stated that the flight was to continue to Madrid later Friday morning.
This is the second recent case of problems with a Boeing 777.
Over the weekend, a Boeing 777 dropped debris in the Denver area after an engine failure. Aside from that, a Boeing 747 cargo plane had an engine problem while flying over the Netherlands last week.
The emergency landing plane in Russia had a General Electric engine, while the other two planes had engines developed by Pratt & Whitney.
