New Zealand’s largest city to close again for the new COVID-19 case

New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland, is closed again for seven days after a new coronavirus case emerged.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced the move on Saturday, and officials are still working to identify the source of the coronavirus in this case, Reuters reported.

Countries have closely followed virus variants in the United Kingdom, Africa and Brazil.

Officials say the patient was infectious on Sunday and visited several public places before realizing two days after he had symptoms.

For next week, city residents will only be able to go out to the grocery store or for essential work. The rest of the country has level two blockades and will not allow large meetings.

New Zealand saw some coronavirus cases earlier this month, and three of the cases were the UK coronavirus variant

There is evidence that the UK variant is more contagious and more deadly than previous variants.

Officials are trying to see if the new case is related to previous cases.

New Zealand has reported more than 2,000 reported cases and more than 20 deaths from the virus, figures dramatically lower compared to other countries, with the nation closed after new cases appear.
