CORNER – A 14-year-old Cantonese woman accused of stabbing and killing her 65-year-old grandmother faces murder charges.

The murder occurred around 7:15 a.m. on Block 4150 of Kimberly Drive in Canton on Feb. 21, although police found the victim’s body on Feb. 22.

According to the prosecution, the teenager is not charged with adulthood. However, it has been designated for adults.

“This means that, after being convicted, an adult designation allows the judge to have the option of convicting the defendant as a minor or as an adult, or to train a minor combined with the option of imposing a conviction for adults if the minor is not rehabilitated, ”the prosecution said in a statement Saturday announcing the charges.

Wayne County Attorney Kym Worthy added, “Mrs. Mosby’s stabbing is very sad and disturbing. Mrs. Mosby was a nurse raising her granddaughter. Our prayers are addressed to her son and wife. “In this case, the 14-year-old girl is being designated for adults because after her conviction, the judge gives the most flexibility during the sentence to provide options for the rehabilitation of this problematic young man.”

Police say Mosby’s body was found by his son, the suspect’s father. When he found Mosby in the Canton house, his daughter was not there.

Officers were directed to a bedroom in the house where the victim’s body was looking down on the floor with several stab wounds.
