About 5.4 million Salvadorans were called to elect the new Legislative Assembly and 262 mayors of the country
The Supreme Electoral Court, TSE, reported tonight at a press conference on the development of the preliminary scrutiny of the legislative and municipal elections held today.
We have a 51% turnout of the electorate for municipal and legislative elections, said TSE President Dora Esmeralda MartĂnez.
Meanwhile Eduardo Lozano, TSE technician, said that the data published at this time on the website of the electoral body only reports the number of votes, not the number of legislative seats, as it is a count that is made at the final scrutiny.
More than 8,000 acts are still pending, Lozano added, adding that the system updates information every 30 seconds.
The 1,595 polling stations began closing at 5 p.m. to make way for the counting of votes in the municipal and legislative elections.

In addition, the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE) performed the zeroing of the results processing system preliminary elections. This gives certainty that the system will record results, based on information from the three acts generated in each of the 8,451 JRV.
About 5.4 million Salvadorans were called to elect the new Congress, 262 mayors of the country and about twenty members of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), a legislative institution of regional integration.
Elected officials will take office on May 1. All charges are for periods of three years.
Earlier, the magistrate of the Supreme Electoral Court (TSE), Noel Orellana, commented that if in any case the system for the preliminary count of votes fails, the electoral body is ready.
