Donald Trump is back: for the first time since he left the White House, the former president said he can run again for the U.S. presidency in 2024, and has assured that the country’s survival depends on conservatives.

And he noted that becoming a country depends on conservatives: “We are in a struggle for the survival of the United States as we know it. This is a struggle. He ruled out pushing for a new party
“I’m not going to start a new game,” he stated. “We have the Republican Party. It will unite and be stronger than ever,” he assured, calling on the unity of the Conservatives.
As expected, Trump attacked Biden and said the Democrat has just concluded “the most disastrous first month” of any modern president. But he also described the country as a divided land.
“Our security, our prosperity and our own identity as Americans are at stake,” he said in a speech in which he attacked immigrants, criticized the “culture of cancellation” and charged against the Biden’s policies on climate change, energy and electoral integrity.

U.S. parties often make an adjustment after a series of setbacks such as those suffered by the Republican Party during Trump’s four-year term: the loss of the White House, the Senate and the House of Representatives.
The party was also marked by the former president’s repeated lies about his electoral failure before Biden, his political trial for inciting an insurrection at the Capitol on January 6, and the extraordinary split it has caused among traditional Republicans. and the pro-Trump populists.
But instead of getting rid of its troubled leader and charting a new path to power, much of the party continues to see Trump as a grab for his future.

At least at CPAC, enthusiasm for his figure remained high. Attendees posed next to a gleaming golden statue of Trump, and shouts of joy rose every time panelists praised the former president. As for the party’s future leadership, support for trumpism was rock solid, and 95% of respondents wanted to continue Trump’s policies and agenda.
But when asked who they prefer as the party’s candidate in 2024, a moderate 55% chose Trump, and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, the de facto host of the CPAC, was left in the distance. second place with 21%.
Respected Republican strategist Karl Rove said he would have expected a more forceful outcome for Trump, especially in an environment that seems to support the former president. “I would take it as a warning note,” he told Fox News. “You need to refresh your car.”
