Chamber cites Congress to express “clear” on status alternatives

The House of Representatives approved this Tuesday, with a vote of 28 in favor and 11 against, the concurrent resolution number 1 presented by the delegation of the Democratic People’s Party (PPD) to denounce, before the Congress of the United States and the world , “the violation of the democratic rights of Puerto Ricans.”

“We demand and urge the Congress of the United States of America to express itself clearly and forcefully on the alternatives it is willing to consider to address the political relationship between Puerto Rico and the United States of America. It is imperative that, in the its expression, promote and designate a binding, participatory and inclusive process of all the sectors that support the different formulas of status “, maintained the president of the Chamber, Rafael Hernández in his speech.

The resolution, which received the vote in favor of the delegations of the Puerto Rican Independentist Party (PIP) and the Citizen Victory Movement (MVC), also denounces the violation of the provisions of Law 600 and the Constitution of the Associated Free State of Puerto Rico.

Popular lawmakers reported that a written copy of the Concurrent Resolution passed will be sent to Congress, its President and the Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN).
