Honduras and Russia reached an agreement in the last hours, after the confirmation made by the ambassador of that country, Alexander Nikolaevich Khokholikov, at the Presidential House, next to the Honduran president, Juan Orlando Hernández.

“The Russian ambassador has confirmed to us that in a few hours today or much later tomorrow a direct purchase contract will be closed to have vaccines against covid-19 in Honduras,” Midence said in a press conference in the company of Minister General Coordinator of Government, Carlos Madero.
The official reported that negotiations between the Honduran government and Russian vaccine suppliers began on September 29. In January an application was sent and the February 25 this was accepted and the purchase of the drug was formalized.
GOVERNMENT HAS RESOURCES FOR PURCHASE
Midence, in his appearance, said that the Central Government has the budget for the purchases to be made directly by Health.
Honduras, he mentioned, will receive batches of vaccines from two different pharmaceuticals, as doses of COVAX will arrive in the country in the weeks of March, to immunize, initially, to 2.4 million citizens.

The government official stressed that Russia only sells them to United States at a standard price. He added that “there is no speculation with prices, that is, with the money of the Honduran people.”
Finally, he announced that Honduras will close deals with other global pharmaceutical companies in search of more batches of vaccines to immunize the population.
