“Unmarried” student Taylor Nolan, a licensed mental health counselor in Washington state, could be investigated by the state Department of Health, which has received “multiple” complaints for its controversial tweets, according to Page Six .
“This week we have received several complaints against Nolan regarding the issues you mentioned,” DOH spokesman Gordon MacCracken told us on Friday. “These complaints are being evaluated. Patient safety is our top priority and we take all complaints seriously. ”
Last weekend, racist and discriminatory tweets appeared online about BIPOC, LGBTQ and the mental health communities (certainly written by Nolan, 27, in the past). His comments also included comments that many considered greasy and embarrassing.
One of the tweets that raised his eyebrows the most, given his profession, was a May 2012 tweet in which he wrote: “#WeWontWorkIf I’ve ever diagnosed you with a personality disorder” and responded to the thread: “treatment: SUICIDE. ”
This week, Nolan has issued several apologies on his Instagram, claiming that his “10 years ago” tweets are “shitty, they suck, they were wrong and they hurt.”
She added in a video, “I want to be clear that they don’t take away from me the job I do today, they are literally how I came to do this job.”
Nolan graduated as a mental health consultant in Washington in 2016 and is told she “has no previous disciplinary record.”
According to his LinkedIn, he has a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Stevenson University, which he attended at the time some of the controversial tweets were written. He also holds a master’s degree in mental health counseling from Johns Hopkins University.
On her website, Nolan said she is “passionate about helping people help themselves.”
She debuted on reality television in Nick Viall’s season of “The Bachelor” in 2017. She then appeared in season 4 of “Bachelor in Paradise,” where she met Derek Peth. The couple got engaged after the show, but left their job in June 2018.
Since then, Nolan has been a outspoken critic of other Bachelor Nation stars who have been the subject of career-related scandals. He called for the resignation of host Chris Harrison, who announced he would step down from the franchise after running for current candidate Rachael Kirkconnell, who has apologized for his own racist behavior.
The Washington state DOH clarified that while they are reviewing the complaints they have received, “not all complaints lead us to open cases” and “treat each complaint individually and evaluate it on its merits.”
We are also told that if an investigation is opened, it “may or may not” generate charges, depending on the “facts of the case”.
If charges are filed, the potential results can range from “dismissal or withdrawal of charges” to “suspension or revocation of licenses.”
In Nolan’s case, MacCracken told Page Six, “This is in the early stages and we can’t predict what the outcome might be.”
A Nolan representative declined to comment.
