Honduran security forces located some 40,000 illegal coca leaf plantations on Saturday, a laboratory allegedly dedicated to processing this type of drug.

The spokesman for the Honduran Armed Forces, José Coello, told reporters that the clandestine laboratory was located during an operation in a mountainous area of ​​the municipality of Lemon, Columbus department, in the Caribbean country.

He added that ‘narcolaboratorio’ was discovered during an operation by the Armed Forces, the National Police, the Military Police of Public Order and the Prosecutor’s Office Against Organized Crime.

The 40,000 coca leaf plantations, which will be destroyed in the next few hours, were also in Limón, where Honduran authorities are following the trail of people who would be involved in planting such drugs in the country, the spokesman said. of the armed institution.

The plantations “already had a considered time of development”, stressed Coello, who indicated that the operation also involves the Prosecutor’s Office Against Organized Crime, the National Interinstitutional Security Force (Fusina), the Xatruch Force and the Public Ministry .
