On Sunday afternoon, requirements for appointments at the massive COVID vaccination site at the United Center were opened to all Chicago residents over the age of 18 and with pre-existing health conditions.
In a significant change, dating through Zocdoc will only be available to residents living in the city of Chicago. According to the office of Governor JB Pritzker, the change was made at the request of the Federal Association for Emergency Management to better ensure that vaccine appointments would be available for the city’s “vulnerable populations”.
Anyone 18 years of age and older with underlying medical conditions, such as cancer, diabetes, obesity, and other comorbidities, is eligible to sign up for appointments.
For residents of suburban Cook County hoping to sign up for vaccine appointments at the United Center, the strips will be allocated through Cook County’s COVID vaccine website starting this week. According to officials, the process for applying for these appointments will be announced in the coming days.
People who are unable to access the website can call 833-308-1988 Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., according to officials.
Some of the remaining doses from the United Center’s mass vaccination site will also be given to mobile vaccination teams and will be available in the areas most affected by the pandemic, according to officials. More details about these sites will be provided in the coming weeks.
