Jeweler Richard Mille’s six-figure watch was stolen during a robbery in broad daylight in Beverly Hills offers a $ 50,000 reward for returning the watch, according to a new report.
Shay Belhassen hopes to retrieve his rare $ 500,000 rose gold watch before it hits the market, though he doubts it will be resold quickly thanks to publicity for the brazen theft.
“It’s a very rare watch, so anyone who’s going to be offered it will know they’re being robbed,” he told the Los Angeles Times.
Last week, Belhassen told The Post that he was sitting with a client at the hot spot of celebrity Il Pastaio on Thursday afternoon, when three armed thieves came out behind him and made their move to slide the celebrity watch: a Rose Gold Flyback 11-03 RM Chronograph.
He grabbed his gun and fought the suspects on the ground, but one of them still came out with his face down, he said.
Four shots rang out during the fight and one of the slugs hit a woman in the leg while she was having dinner with her boyfriend.
Beverly Hills police have said they believe the suspects drove Belhassen for the luxury accessory.
The jeweler told the LA Times that he is angry because similar crimes have occurred in the area in recent weeks and few have drawn attention like this.
According to the newspaper, the robberies during which the shootings took place in the area and many suspects are targeted at high-end watches in the nearby Wilshire area.
