Utah reported only one death by COVID-19 Monday

It is the second day in a row with only one recorded mortality, but Utah’s total is approaching 2,000.

For the second day in a row, the Utah Department of Health reported only one death from COVID-19 in the state.

The state also reported only 259 new cases of coronavirus, the least in six months. But the number of tests on Sunday was also low (only about 5,500), as was the number of people who received vaccine doses (just over 2,000).

The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah has exceeded 375,000 and the number of fully vaccinated Utahns already exceeds 310,000.

Dose of vaccines administered the day before / total doses administered • 2,087 / 857,750.

Fully vaccinated Utahns • 310,327.

Cases reported last day • 259.

Deaths reported last day • One, a Washington County man between the ages of 65 and 84.

Hospitalizations reported last day • 193. That’s two before Sunday. Of those currently hospitalized, 73 are in intensive care units, unchanged since Sunday.

Tests reported last day • 3,083 people were tested for the first time. A total of 5,530 people were tested.

Percentage of positive tests • According to the original method of the state, the rate is 8.4%. This is slightly below the seven-day average of 9.06%.

His new method counts all test results, including repeated tests from the same individual. Monday’s rate is now 4.7%, slightly higher than the seven-day average of 4.38%.

Total so far • 375,109 cases; 1,977 dead; 14,913 hospitalizations; 2,251,204 people tested.
