The original CW programming list has gradually returned to our TV screens, from the presentation of programs to the long-awaited entries. One program that is definitely part of the latter is network reboot Kung-fu, which will reinvent the beloved series led by David Carradine of the seventies. After previously releasing a poster and a handful of teaser details, the network has revealed its first official trailer for the series. You can check it out below.
The world of Kung Fu it has been revised several times since the original series, with the 1986 one Kung-fu film, the failed 1987 pilot Kung Fu: the next generation, and the 1993 series Kung Fu: The legend continues. There has been speculation about the possibility of revisiting the franchise as a modern film over the years, with Baz Luhrmann and Bill Paxton in several cases.
In Kung Fu, a quarter-of-a-lifetime crisis causes a young Chinese-American woman, Nicky Shen (Olivia Liang), to drop out of college and take a life-changing trip to an isolated monastery in China. But when he returns to San Francisco, he finds that his hometown is invaded by crime and corruption and his own parents (Tzi Ma and Kheng Hua Tan) are at the mercy of a powerful choice. Nicky will rely on her tech-savvy sister (Shannon Dang), premeditated brother (Jon Prasida), deputy district attorney and ex-boyfriend (Gavin Stenhouse), and new love interest (Eddie Liu), as well as her skills in Martial Arts. and Shaolin values to protect her community and bring criminals to justice … while searching for the ruthless killer (Gwendoline Yeo) who killed her Shaolin mentor and is now watching her.
Inspired by the original series created by Ed Spielman, Kung-fu comes from Warner Bros. Television in partnership with Quinn’s House and Berlanti Productions, with executive writer / producer Christina M. Kim (“Blindspot”, “Lost”) and executive producers Martin Gero (“Blindspot”, “LA Complex”), Greg Berlanti ( “Arrow”, “The Flash”, “Riverdale”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow”, “The Flash”, “Riverdale”).
