DETROIT – For a year now, the Michigan governor and legislature have been discussing how to handle the COVID crisis.
More recently, the Republican-controlled body approved an additional $ 4 billion budget, with many chains that would require Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer to relinquish emergency powers.
On Monday, Whitmer analyzed where he is.
Both parties remain true to form. Neither side is moving and the war of words continues to escalate.
“We have $ 5 billion that has been allocated to the Michigan legislature, whose Republican control is trying to curb those dollars and trying to push me to give up the executive powers I used to save lives. They know this will never happen. and it’s really sad, ”Whitmer said.
Whitmer was on MSNBC Monday morning.
“And so for our legislature to be able to play this dangerous game with resources that we desperately need is really disappointing, but unfortunately you know we have to keep trying to do everything we can to move forward,” Whitmer said.

Republican House Leader Ben Fredericks of Owosso believes governor plays dangerous and stubborn game.
“I think he continues to paint the picture: he is a governor who simply wants to behave in an authoritarian way, as he has refused to talk about wanting to work with other people on every occasion he has presented himself. Working with this governor it just means fulfilling, ”Owosso said.
Getting the billions of dollars that the federal government offers the Michiganders continues to be harder and harder.
“The governor will have to realize he is going there alone and shooting from the hip ruling at a press conference will have to stop. We can’t continue to bite our lives in two or three increments depending on what someone, one might say “There needs to be a plan,” Owosso said.
