The WHO recommends not forcing Covap-19s to travel with vaccine passports

Geneva: A senior World Health Organization official said the so-called “vaccine passports” for COVID-19 should not be used for international travel due to numerous concerns, including ethical considerations that coronavirus vaccines are not readily available worldwide.

At a news conference Monday, WHO’s head of emergencies, Michael Ryan, said there were “real ethical and practical considerations” for countries considering using vaccine certification as a condition for travel, and he add that the UN health agency advises against it for now.

“Vaccination is not sufficiently available worldwide and is not available equitably,” Ryan said. The WHO has previously stated that the immunity of the many licensed COVID-19 vaccines is still unknown and that data are still being maintained. collected.

Ryan also noted that the strategy could be unfair to people who cannot be vaccinated for certain reasons and that requiring vaccine passports could allow “inequity and injustice (to) be further marked in the system.”
