NASHVILLE, Tennessee (WTVF) – As of today, more Tennesseans can register to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. The state has moved to phase 1c of vaccination launch.
Some counties, such as Davidson County, will be ready to move into this phase today, but not all counties are in the same vaccine distribution phase. People are asked to consult their local health department to see at what stage their county is.
The state health department says they were able to move on to this phase thanks to a large projected surplus of vaccine doses that would reach the state over the next three weeks.
Tennessee is expected to receive 54,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, which only requires one shot.
“As a reminder, the 1C population is of all people over the age of 16 who suffer from a high-risk medical condition … there are a lot of people who will qualify for 1C of all ages,” Dr. Lisa said. Piercey, Tennessee Health Commissioner.
As part of this phase, Tennesseans over the age of 16 with a high-risk health status can receive the vaccine. This also includes caregivers of medically fragile children and pregnant women. Learn more about who is eligible here.
Ascension St. Thomas Hospital Midtown has also opened a COVID-19 vaccine clinic dedicated to pregnant women. Expectant mothers can sign up for an appointment with the vaccine through St. Thomas Midtown online by clicking here.
