Matthew McConaughey plans to run for governor of Texas

Matthew McConaughey said Wednesday he was considering a candidacy to govern Texas.

The “Dallas Buyers Club” star acknowledged the possibility of running for office while being interviewed on the “Balanced Voice” podcast.

McConaughey, 51, was talking about his current roles as a father and professor at the University of Texas when asked aloud what his next step in life would be.

“And look now, what’s my leadership role?” McConaughey asks. “Because I think I have some things to teach and share.

“What is my role, what is my category in the next chapter of my life in which I am now engaged?” keep on.

Host Rania Mankarious jumped at the chance to wonder if a government career would qualify as her next step.

“It’s a real consideration,” the Oscar winner said.

Last November, McConaughey did not rule out running for political office when asked about the possibility in a radio interview.
