SALT LAKE CITY – The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah has risen by 646 Thursday, with 23 more deaths and 34,290 reported vaccinations, according to the Utah Department of Health.
Fifteen of the deaths occurred before Feb. 11, but were still being investigated by strong doctors, according to the health department. Thursday’s total deaths place Utah above 2,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic, with 2,015 deaths in total recorded as of Thursday.
According to the health department, the average number of positive cases per day for seven days is 524. The percentage of positive tests per day for this time period communicated with the “people on people” method is now 8.4% . The seven-day daily positive test rate calculated using the “test over test” method is now 4%.
There are now 167 COVID-19 patients currently hospitalized in Utah, according to state data. A total of 936,681 vaccines have been administered in the state, up from 902,391 on Wednesday.
Utah Gov. Spencer Cox also provided an update on the COVID-19 pandemic at a news conference Thursday morning.
