The Department of Health reported tonight that a total of 650 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 today, March 10, during the mass event that took place at the María M. Simmons De Rivera School, in l ‘island municipality of Vieques.
With this effort, Salut hoped to complete the inoculation of the Viequenses to achieve community immunity. However, they realized that there were citizens from other municipalities like Naranjito, also queuing to receive the vaccine.
When questioned about whether people from other municipalities will receive any penalties, the official simply said he will move on to “see what can be done.”
According to data provided by the National Guard, a total of 3,626 people have been vaccinated in this municipality for the first phase of vaccination. Additionally, another 868 people are vaccinated in their second phase.
On the other hand, in the face of this vaccination effort, Governor Pedro Pierluisi Urrutia advanced that the tourism sector of the island municipality could begin gradually.
According to Pierluisi Urrutia, the changes in tourism could be part of the new Executive Order that is expected to be announced tomorrow. However, if measures were included on this, the document would come into force on Monday.
