SLO County reports 51 new cases of COVID-19, 3 more deaths

San Luis Obispo County public health officials reported 51 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, bringing the county’s total to 20,017 confirmed cases as of March 11.

The county also added three additional COVID-19-related deaths. To date, SLO County has recorded 251 deaths attributed to the virus.

Health officials say there are currently 11 people hospitalized. Another 309 are recovering at home and officials say 19,443 people have recovered.

Currently, twenty of the 38 licensed ICU beds and county staff are occupied. One of them is taken by a COVID-19 patient.

  • Atascadero State Hospital (patients) – 206

  • Santa Margarida – 132
  • Creston – 83
  • Cayucos – 68
  • Avila Beach – 28
  • San Simeó – 21
  • Bradley – 7

The locations of 22 additional cases are being investigated and another ten are shown as “other,” which includes communities with less than five cases. The Department of Public Health does not identify these locations.

TESTS

COVID-19 community test sites are currently open to the public in San Luis Obispo, Paso Robles, Morro Bay, Grover Beach and Nipomo.

VACCINATIONS

San Luis Obispo County has opened vaccine requirements to the following groups:

  • People 65 years or older
  • Anyone aged 16 to 64 who is at the highest risk of suffering from serious COVID-19 disease or dying from serious health problems
  • Education and child care workers
  • Emergency service workers
  • Food and agriculture workers
  • Health and community health personnel
  • Residents and staff of long-term care centers
