The Modding Cafe YouTube channel has created the world’s first water-cooled PlayStation 5 console. The new generation console generates a lot of heat, which requires a large cooling fan. However, water cooling is a quieter option and takes up less space. The plastic casing of the modern version of Nhenhophach makes it as tall as a traditional PS5, but it is apparently working on more versions, including one that will be commercially available. According to Video Games Chronicle, the modder’s YouTube channel tends to focus more on PC versions and his next project will integrate the water-cooled PS5 into a PC. A video of the creation of the modification can be found at the top of this page.
The water-cooled look is easily the highlight, but the system design also has many accents that PlayStation fans should love. From the system logo to the water tank to the controller symbols carved into the frame, it’s not hard to imagine PlayStation fans really falling in love with this design. It certainly looks unique, but the same can be said with the official PS5 design. With the fan gone, future versions of the Nhenhophach PS5 may be smaller. It will be interesting to see what these designs look like, in particular what will be available for purchase.
It’s always interesting to see the different ideas that modders bring to the table. Most PlayStation fans would love to secure any PS5 let alone one that cools in water, but there are many gamers who would love to have a version that produces less noise. The industry has not yet accepted water-cooled video game consoles, but it would not be surprising for that to happen in the future.
Although PS5 has only been around since November, it seems that modders have been working hard to find alternative versions of the hardware to make and even offer to buy it. An 18-carat gold-plated version of the system is available online, at a fairly high price of £ 8,000. It’s significantly less practical than the water-cooled version, but for those looking for a bright screen, it may be worth the cost.
