Most New York Congress Democrats, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and President Jerry Nadler, sent near-simultaneous petitions on Friday for Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign.
“The repeated allegations against the governor and the way he has responded to them have made it impossible for him to continue ruling at this time,” Nadler said in a statement on Twitter.
“Governor Cuomo has lost the trust of the people of New York. Governor Cuomo must resign,” Nadler said.
The opposing Democratic governor has called for the resignation of state-level politicians from his own party over a growing list of allegations of sexual harassment and work conduct against him.
Cuomo has repeatedly promised not to resign and has urged people to suspend the trial on the numerous charges against him until the conclusion of an investigation by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
But Democrats and Republicans in the Empire State have only increased pressure on Cuomo, more recently taking steps toward an impeachment investigation.
Cuomo has suggested the attacks are politically motivated. Several New York Democrats are currently considering running for Cuomo’s job, as his political future looks increasingly dubious.
But a deluge of congressional Democrats joined the growing heart on Friday morning against Cuomo, who is on fire not only for allegations of harassment, but also for Covid’s handling of his residences by the administration.
“As members of the New York delegation to the U.S. House of Representatives, we believe these women, we believe in information, we believe the attorney general, and we believe the fifty-five members of the New York state legislature York, including the State Senate The leader of the majority, which has concluded that Governor Cuomo can no longer lead effectively in the face of so many challenges, “representatives Ocasio-Cortez and Jamaal Bowman said in a joint statement.

It should be noted that so far the two Democratic senators from New York have not been willing to ask Cuomo to resign.
On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, DN.Y., called the latest claim against Cuomo “nauseating,” but stopped asking the governor to step down.
Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, DN.Y., did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Democratic citizens on the development. The White House also did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
