SALT LAKE CITY – The number of COVID-19 cases in Utah increased Friday by 519, with two more deaths and 30,300 vaccinations reported, according to the Utah Department of Health.
The state now estimates there are 12,601 active cases of the disease in Utah. According to the health department, the average number of positive cases per day seven days a day is 519. The percentage of positive tests per day for this time period communicated with the “people on people” method is now 8, 4%. The seven-day daily positive test rate calculated using the “test over test” method is now 4%.
There are currently 184 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Utah, including 67 in intensive care, according to state data. According to the health department, approximately 69% of the beds in Utah’s intensive care units are included, including 72% of the ICU beds at the state’s 16 reference hospitals. Approximately 55% of non-ICU hospital beds are now filled, according to state data.
A total of 967,481 vaccines have been administered in the state, compared to 936,681 on Thursday. There are now 641,951 Utahns who have received at least one dose of the vaccine, while 348,650 are fully vaccinated, according to state data. A total of 1,157,345 vaccine doses have been shipped to Utah.
The new figures indicate a 0.1% increase in positive cases since Thursday. Of the 2,279,263 people tested so far to detect COVID-19 in Utah, 16.6% tested positive for the disease. The total number of tests conducted since the beginning of the pandemic is now 3,984,895, an increase of 13,535 since Thursday. Of these, 5,780 were tests of people who had not been tested for COVID-19.
The two deaths reported Friday were Salt Lake County men who were hospitalized when they died. One was over 85 and the other was between 45 and 64, according to the health department.
Friday’s totals give Utah 377,492 confirmed cases, with 15,049 hospitalizations and 2,017 deaths from the disease. A total of 362,874 cases of COVID-19 in Utah are considered recovered, according to state data.
