Friday, days before, he would have turned 88 years old.
“RBG was clearly a symbol of what this country is good at and how, when we’re inclusive, we can stop the widespread level of exclusivity across the country,” Brooklyn President Eric Adams told NBC News.
The bronze statue, created by artists Gillie and Marc in consultation with Ginsburg before her death, commemorates the late feminist icon during Women’s History Month.

“We had the honor and privilege of creating Judge Ginsburg’s distinguished likeness in eternal bronze as part of the statues for equality. The final statue, reflects his desire to be represented in a dignified manner,” tthe artists said about their inspiration, according to City Point, where the statue will be displayed.
They went on to say:With the two rungs of its large base representing the Supreme Court and the climb it made to get there, the work is designed to provide the public with the opportunity to stand by their side and be inspired by the their journey fighting for equal rights “.
Adams named March 15 “Ginsburg Justice Day” in Brooklyn in honor of the champion of gender equality, who died of pancreatic cancer in September.
The statue is available for reservation, which can be done 60 days in advance.
