Criminal Rents Car, Robs Bank, repurchases BMW

A man has admitted a robbery of federal banks after renting a car from a car dealership, driving it to a bank, stealing it and then returning with cash to try to buy a BMW.

Eric Dion Warren, 50, was sentenced to 20 years in prison after admitting his bold, if not so well thought out, crime.

The incident took place in 2019, when Warren drove the dealer’s car to a bank near Lubbock, Texas.

Once he arrived, he placed a fast food restaurant bag on the counter and handed the cashier a note saying, “This is a robbery. Play with me and die. I want $ 10,000 in $ 50 and $ 100 bills.” now you have 1 minute or i will kill you “.

He later produced what looked like a handgun, telling the bank staff member, “I’m not playing, I just want 100s and 50s.”

According to prosecutors, the cashier gave the cash to the bag, but included a roll of $ 20 bills with registered serial numbers.

He then took his $ 5,086 to the same car dealership where he was seen in the process of buying a black BMW car.

The prosecution team said: “Mr Warren started shaking up the money he had illegally obtained from the bank robbery to the employees of the car dealership.”

It’s not the smartest move in history, is it?

Things started to get messy for Warren when authorities contacted the car dealership a quarter of an hour later to inform them of the getaway car, which had registered plates.

Police officers showed up at the dealership and found Warren with the cash, as well as a pellet gun that had been modified to appear as a real weapon.

He pleaded guilty to the crime in August.

The official statement detailing the crime reads: “Mr Warren was arrested with $ 5,086 in cash.

“The serial numbers of the money found in Mr Warren’s person were cross-referenced and matched the numbers of the stolen invoices in the AIM bank.

“Law enforcement also recovered a painted pellet gun, similar to a real pistol, about 10 feet away from Mr. Warren at the time of his arrest.

“The demand note given to the bank’s cashier was analyzed and confirmed the existence of Mr. Warren’s fingerprints and DNA.”

All in all, it’s not the smartest idea this guy has ever had.
