The leaders of RecallGavin2020 announced this week that his effort reached more than 2,060,000 signatures as of Wednesday.

Government Lt. Eleni Kounalakis is expected to schedule the election 60 to 80 days after the final certification of signatures, the Times noted.
The Republican-led effort comes in a backlash against the Democratic governor’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic, particularly by restrictions on social distancing from meetings and business.
Newsom acknowledged the wrong steps in its treatment of the pandemic in California during its State of the State on Tuesday, but said California “won’t change course just because of some non-sayers and dooms-dayers.”
“So to critics of California, who promote partisan power-taking and outdated prejudices, and reject everything that makes California truly fantastic, we say this: we won’t be distracted from getting gunshots and our economy will return to “This is a struggle for the future of California,” he said.
The group announced last week which had reached 1.95 million signatures. The group had until March 17 to exceed the 2 million threshold.
