We have too many instant messaging apps on your phones, taking up time and mental space. There is the inevitable overload of notifications on the phone lock screen in most cases. WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, Apple iMessage, Slack, Skype and even direct messages on Twitter and Instagram. Also, there will often be overly enthusiastic contacts who believe in excessive communication. The end result is that sometimes you will feel like pulling your hair out. Sure I do, more often. The world is crying out for an app that can put all these apps together, in one window, so you don’t jump, jump and jump between them and end up exhausting yourself and your thumbs. Simplify things, if possible. Our prayers may have been answered. The app is called Beeper and may be the super application you were expecting. I’m one step closer to instant messaging nirvana, or at least that’s what I would expect it to be, and it will cost me $ 10 a month for convenience.
Needless to say, Beeper earlier this year was something I immediately got on the waiting list. The promise at the time was that Beeper would return with the opportunity to reserve the username at some point. This week, I finally received this long-awaited email with a custom link to reserve the username. And here’s the attention to detail: you’ll pay $ 10 a month for the service. Share your credit card details now, but you will be charged after a few weeks when you are invited to start using Beeper with the username you have reserved for yourself. It’s the same price, whether you’re signing up for Android or iPhone. There’s also the option to pay a year in advance, which is $ 120 immediately, which the good people at Beeper say will make you increase the waiting list. I paid the $ 10 fee to get on the waiting list, because paying all year was really not too good with the urge to take risks.
So what do I get for $ 10 a month with Beeper and why would I recommend you try it at least? The notification clutter shown above is the main reason for getting an app that brings all of your messaging apps together in one place. Beeper is not a messaging app by itself, as what it does brings all your existing accounts under one roof, as a single app that you open to read and reply to all the chats of all the linked apps. Right now, you can bring WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram, Facebook Messenger, Apple iMessage, Slack, Skype, Twitter, Instagram, Android Messages, IRC, Matrix, Discord and Beeper in one app. This is almost the most popular of the marked instant messaging applications, although it is interesting to note that Chinese-owned WeChat and Line are not yet part of the supported applications.
Beeper says that once the username is reserved, the wait begins. Each week they will invite more people to start using the service. When it hits me, they will give me 30 days to set up my account and start using Beeper, otherwise my username will be re-posted. The application is cross-platform and is available for iPhone, iPad, Android phones, Apple macOS devices, Microsoft Windows and Linux computing devices. That said, getting iMessage to work on Android phones requires some ingenious solutions. There will be filters for the Beeper inbox, the ability to search all chat networks, as well as postpone or archive messages. Beeper developers say there is no free subscription level at this time, although a trial option is planned to be introduced later this year. Beeper also gets a dark mode with the next update of the app, which means Beeper users have something interesting to look forward to.
