Protesters clash with LAPD during Breonna Taylor’s rally in Hollywood

Protesters commemorating the anniversary of Breonna Taylor’s death clashed with police in Hollywood late Saturday, with a savage video showing a police cruiser driving with someone clinging to its hood.

At least 200 people headed to Hollywood and Vine on Saturday afternoon demanding justice for Taylor, who was fatally shot by police in Louisville, Kentucky, in a raid attacked a year ago, KABC said.

At one point, a group of protesters dressed in black (some had umbrellas as smoke filled the air around them) were filmed blocking a line of at least six cars from the LAPD squadron trying to pass.

After one protester blocked the passage of the main car, another came and hit the hood, with both of them climbing into the hood, video recorded by Sean Carmitchel shows.

The car pulled away, with one of the protesters managing to jump, but the other remained in the hood as the police car drove away, chased by a group of onlookers.

“St. st!” someone was heard shouting, along with repeated shouts of, “Doctor! Doctor! Doctor! Doctor! ”

Carmitchel said later that the he was a protester in the car not seriously injured. The Los Angeles Police Department Operations Center told KABC it had few details about the incident.

He arrived during a night of tense clashes with police on riot gear, the station said.

Images were also shown painted sgraffito around the area, including “dying pigs” and “fk 12,” a common anti-police message used during the protests.

Louisville agents broke Taylor’s front door as part of an early-morning drug raid on March 13, 2020. Her boyfriend, Kenneth Walker, fired the gun once, saying after he feared an intruder would enter the apartment.

One officer was beaten and he and two other officers fired 32 shots at the apartment and attacked Taylor five times.

A grand jury charged an officer with felony criminal mischief for shooting at a neighbor’s apartment, but no officer was charged in connection with Taylor’s death.

A Kentucky judge last week signed an order to permanently close a criminal case against Walker for shooting at the officer.

Walker filed a federal lawsuit against the Louisville Metro Police Department on Friday, alleging that his constitutional rights were violated during the raid.
