GameStop to deliver an exclusive Pokémon card this week

GameStop gets its own Pokémon card. PokeBeach reports that GameStop will be giving away a Flapple Pokemon promotional card starting this Friday, March 19th. The card is a non-holofoil version of Rebel Clash’s Flapple, but has the GameStop logo printed on the bottom of the card. While it’s not the first time GameStop has given away Pokémon cards, it does mark the first time they’ve given away a sealed card. Cards will be given to any customer who buys at least $ 15 Pokemon trading card game merchandise.

PokeBeach also reports that GameStop could also give away a Gigantamax flapple Sword and Shield Pokémon, although they could not confirm it or not. GameStop previously gave away several Gigantamax Pokémon for Sword and Shield Pokémon with Pokémon card gifts.

Gifts are probably an unofficial link for the upcoming release of the “Battle Styles” expansion for Pokemon trading card game. The set, which is inspired by the DLC for Isle of Armor for Sword and Shield Pokémon, will have to come out this week and add a new Battle Styles mechanic to the card game. Players can build around two different battle styles, with card skills that synergize with other cards that use the same style. Like all Pokemon cards, the Battle Styles expansion should be in high demand, so fans may want to head to GameStop early if they want to get the promotional card and some of the new expansion.

Pokemon cards are relatively scarce in many stores right now, due to an above-average demand mix due to a resurgence in popularity and low supply due to production problems caused by the pandemic. The problem with the supply of cards is serious enough that The Pokemon Company issued a public statement stating that it would increase its production and issue reprints of recent sets.
