With the fall of the tests, the positivity rate exceeds 5%

SAINT ANTHONY – San Antonio officials reported 200,818 COVID-19 cases in total and 2,990 deaths in total in Bexar County, an increase of 154 new cases Monday. No further deaths were reported.

Due to a drop in tests, San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg said the weekly positivity rate reached 5.6%, up from 2.6% last week. Nirenberg said the fall is likely to be due to the spring break, as school districts did not test during the holidays.

Health officials also reported that 215 patients are hospitalized, 90 in the intensive care unit and 53 in ventilators.

There are 16% beds available and 72% fans.

Nirenberg, along with Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff, condemned the racist graffiti found at a San Antonio ramen restaurant. The case is being investigated by San Antonio police and FBI investigators say they are ready to help if a federal offense is suspected.
